An Open Letter to Winter
Dear Winter,
Winter, Winter, Winter. What are we going to do with you? I have so many questions for you because I wonder why you are here? You either last for three months or you last for six months. We never know when we are getting rid of you because you randomly disappear and then reappear.
Yes you have snow, but snow gets old real fast. You can do a lot with the snow like build a snowman, go sledding, and build forths but after ten minutes you start to lose feeling in your limbs. Snow just makes you cold and miserable. After a week of snow it turns all gross. It turns into dark brown slush. Snow also turns into ice. Ice is dangerous on the road and off the road. It makes people drive like grandmas and walk like grandpa’s. Winter, you are dangerous. People can get frostbite and you cause accidents. Snow isn’t worth the three months of misery.
You make everyone look pale and sad. The sun is never shining and it makes everything look dark and gloomy. You make the days feel so long because it gets dark at four. Winter, you make everyone tired and you make people sick. During winter, people are stuck with raspy voices, running noses, and coughs that are uncontrollable. Winter, we lose a lot of trees because of you. We need tissues constantly to blow our noses. The cold makes our skin dry and it makes us look paler. Not only do you make people look tired and pale but you also make them look bigger. You make them look bigger because of all the layers they have to wear because it’s so cold outside. But then when they get inside they are sweating up a storm because of all the layers they are wearing. Winter overall you make everyone’s life miserable.
When I think of winter I think of Antarctica. I would only like winter if I got to live in Antarctica. Antarctica would make winter more exciting. We could hang with all the animals like the penguins, and the polar bears. We could make igloos and live in them. I would be able to snuggle with the polar bears in the igloo. I could have the penguins as my pets. Winter would be so much more exciting if it was Antarctica.
Well winter it would be nice if we didn’t even have you or it would be nice if we could have you for one month. You’re no fun and most of the population doesn’t like you. Winter we don’t need you and we would be better off without you.
Thanks,
Lizzy
